A MINI has spontaneously combusted whilst sat idle on its owner's driveway.
According to The Morning Call newspaper in Pennsylvania, the 2007 MINI had sat idle on its owner's driveway and not been used since the night before.
Shortly before the car caught fire, a neighbour said he heard a clicking coming from the car, as if the push-start ignition was trying to turn over.
Owner Josh France-McIntyre said; "I'm really mad. I just got it last week. It was great little car. Well, that's what I thought."
MINI has already faced issues over cars catching fire. Back in 2012, after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration, Mini recalled nearly 90,000 cars because of a fire risk. BMW told the
safety agency that the auxiliary water pump designed to dissipate heat
from the turbocharger could malfunction.
BMW said the pump's circuit board could fail, causing the board to overheat and possibly catch fire "in an extreme case."
