In the Italian Baja, the fourth round on the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup calendar, the two MINI ALL4 Racing Crews temporarily held very promising positions. But rain and the rocky track caused problems and so, Bryce Menzies (USA) / Tom Colsoul (BEL) had to settle for fifth, in the short event, with their team-mates Yazeed Al-Rajhi (KSA) and Timo Gottschalk (GER) finishing right behind them in sixth. Meanwhile, Russian pairing Vladimir Vasilyev and Konstantin Zhiltsov took a BMW X3 CC to the fine second place.

This factory optional accessory on MkI/MkII Minis is commonly lost and worn out. It neatly attaches to the bootlid covering the inside of the boot area, hiding the spare wheel and battery. Although only a period correct accessory on the Mk1 cars, this mat can in fact be fitted to any Mini saloon built with the original left hand 5.5 gallon petrol tank.

Rockingham Motor Speedway was always going to be different.  The cars go round anti clockwise for starters! A 2-mile circuit, half on the high speed banked section, the other half on the technical infield section.  The Grandstand, Pit garages, Paddock areas and facilities are superb. Car park big enough to house 20,000 cars too. In the outskirts of Corby not too far from the M11, A14 and the A6116. Well so the sat nav says. Six races plus qualifying, in all a busy weekend.

After a long break, the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup will be continued this weekend with the fourth round on its calendar: The Italian Baja that also will be contested by MINI ALL4 Racing pairings: Yazeed Al-Rajhi (KSA) / Timo Gottschalk (GER) and Bryce Menzies (USA) / Tom Colsoul (BEL). And while the two pairings will battle it out for positions in Italy, Harry Hunt and his MINI ALL4 Racing will be involved in the legendary Festival of Speed in Goodwood.

Minispeed ceases trading

It is with a heavy heart that we break the news that longstanding Mini part supplier and engine builder Minispeed has ceased trading.

 Employees confirmed to love:mini that the firm is no longer taking any orders and is in the process of fulfilling any outstanding orders and returning items to their rightful owners before winding the business down.

 It comes after news that owner James Sutton has had a recent spell in hospital. Our thoughts go out to him wishing him a speedy recovery. 
An official announcement was released on the Official Minispeed Facebook account today:

"ANNOUNCEMENT!
It is with great regret that I inform all of our Facebook friends and customers that Minispeed is currently not trading. We have shut our eBay store and our sales website!

Please if you are a current customer of ours and have a car here that is currently being worked on, or have an parts order with us that you are expecting do not threat! We will still get the current orders and work completed as we do not want to drop any of our customers and leave them with nothing.

If you have any questions we still have staff on hand to help so please feel free to give us a call at our workshop and we will do what we can to help.

Lohen Supercharger Belt Tensioner Damper

A replacement supercharger damper tensioner for the MINI Cooper S, JCW and GP supercharged generation 1 R52 and R53.
The tensioner damper is responsible for maintianing supercharger belt tenison. This is an essential component as it not only drives the supercharger but also the water pump, so even short periods of engine running after belt failure can lead to serious engine damage through over heating. When the damper fails, belt tension is lost, the belt comes off and the tensioner arm can drop down into the crank pulley causing further damage. Traditionally failure of the damper has meant complete replacement of the tensioner assmebly at a cost of close to £200. This damper replaces the failed item only saving over a £125 on the traditional fix.
The damper is the same item as supplied on the MINI assembly.

Since the introduction of fly-by-wire throttle control, there has been a delay between pressing the throttle and the engine's response. Given some recent troubles on hill junctions we thought this might be just the product to solve this issue.

The leading MINI motorsport championship, the MINI Challenge, has overhauled its website to tie in more closely with the MINI brand.

 Gone are the swathes of black, to be replaced with biblical white light backgrounds and crisp lines. The simplification of the user interface allows more breathing space for the design and less clutter, making it easier to read and navigate. 

 There's still plenty of information, and even more to read about now - all easily accessible from the drop-down tabs and in-page links.

EVENT REPORT: LMR Mega MINI Meet

The Lancashire MINI Register's annual Mega MINI Meet was the perfect Father's Day treat for any male Mini enthusiast. Located on the picturesque Fylde coast in Lytham St Annes, at Lytham Hall, the day started out with bright sunshine and a large turnout.

 Enthusiasts from all over the country made the journey to the North West coast with FullOnMinis coming from the North East, East Coast Mini Club coming from... well, the East Coast, and some even made a near 600-mile round trip from Bournemouth - good effort from Amy Hibbard and her crew.
Once again the team from the LMR had put on a great show with live entertainment from Emma Wright and a raffle with a heap of excellent prizes. 

Traders had turned out in force too, with Lloyd MINI Blackpool, Magnetagz, Julie Craftevan, the Speed Factory all attending plus others.

 Whilst the weather only held out until early afternoon, by then the day was all but done and showgoers had just bear the light rain whilst gripping on to those lucky raffle tickets.
