First Mini to take on Peking to Paris Challenge

A classic Mini has been entered into the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge for the first time ever - dubbed the world's toughest endurance rally for classic cars.

Replacing Car 34, the 1972 Mini 1000 will be piloted by Paul and Chris Hartfield after their Packard failed to be ready in time for the 8,500 mile event. So a backup option was to buy a Mini that had been prepared for the 2015 Marrakesh event.

Although a Mini 1000 on paper, it sports a 1300cc engine and 1991 bodyshell.

The event starts on Sunday from the Great Wall of China in Bejing heading towards Paris though Mongolia, Russia and Europe for the finish on Sunday July 17.
