Minis come out in force for the HRCR Mini Challenge

The HRCR organised Mini Challenge has got off to a cracking start with 21 Minis registered for the competition, and 19 entered on the first round the AGBO Stages on the 20th March.
Familiar faces to the Challenge include reigning Champion Andrew O’Hanlon with Ryan Taylor hoping to complete a full season sat beside him. love:mini sponsored Clive King and Anton Bird will be hoping to take a good fight to Andrew, now they have now come down off the cloud that was the Wales Rally GB and even managing to get a good night’s sleep. Anton Bird explains his and Clive season intentions; “I will be with Clive King again this year in the Cooper S, we are looking at doing all rounds plus some others to qualify in both the HRCR masters & Welsh Historic championships. We may also have other commitments, possibly in Ireland.”

Eric Davis and Russell Joseph will be out in their usual Mini Clubman, however, Eric’s regular service crew member Paul Taylor and daughter Jemma will be competing in a Mini 1293. Other 2015 award winners Bruce Mills, Shane Gamble, Peter Horsburgh/Graham Carter in their Mini Spares Mini, and Peter Ellerby with new co driver Phillip Swanborough all return with high hopes for the season.

Several newcomers to the series in a variety of Mini types make up the registrations and it is expected that they will make the competition more intense than ever. Alongside the Minis that conform to MSA Historic rules the new open category for classic Minis has attracted six cars that will compete within their own class.
