The Mintex ‘old Stager’ and Mini Cup got off to a great start at the open day, taking more registrations before lunch than in the whole of last season.
The Mini cup saw 20 crews registering and with the return of all of last year’s main contenders and several new faces we are looking forward to some exciting and close competition. The new open class for Classic Minis that do not fully comply with the historic regulations is proving particularly popular.
Whilst crews with Minis formed the majority of entrants there was a wide range of other interesting cars including a Marina, Triumph 2.5 PI, Lancia Fulvia, Hillman Imp, Vauxhall Firenza and Chevette, Cortina and a gaggle of Escorts.
The first round of the Championship the AGBO stages at Weston Park on the 20th March opened their entry list at the event and had a full entry by lunchtime. Twenty-four championship contenders have entries, including 18 Minis something that hasn’t been seen on a stage event for a very long time!
