3rd Gen MINI Hatch scores 4/5 in ANCAP safety test

The Australian and New Zealand automobile safety agency ANCAP, has mirrored its European sibling (NCAP), by rating the 3rd Generation MINI 3-door Hatch (2014-present) with 4 stars (out of 5).

The MINI failed to achieve the golden 5-stars after the test revealed that "forces were transmitted to parts of the dummy which are not representative of a human body, reducing the load on the ribs. Accordingly the maximum penalty of two points was applied. This resulted in a chest rating of 'marginal'. Loads on the abdomen also indicated marginal protection".
