Minis for Auction this September

Classic Car Auctions’ (CCA) September Sale on Saturday 24th September at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre has a number of Minis up for sale. Here's the lowdown on them.

1979 Morris Mini Cooper Evocation
Lot: 419
Estimate (£): 6,000 - 8,000

Offered for sale is a 1.275L 1979 Austin Mini manual. Coming with a partial history file, this lot's condition scores 80 / 135.

Classic Car Auctions says:
Carefully crafted recreation of an early Mini Cooper...

This homage to the iconic cars of the mid-sixties was built during 2014/15 from a standard shell stripped, sandblasted and strengthened with new panels where needed, before being professionally painted in the traditional Cooper colours of Tartan Red with a Black roof. The car was then methodically reassembled using high-quality stainless steel bolts, clips and brackets.

Mechanically the build consisted of a modified 1275 engine with a Cooper 'S' head and other performance parts. Braking was taken care of using Cooper 'S' discs and all the suspension was poly bushed. The car is fitted with adjustable "GAZ" shocks and the fuel supplied through a new electric pump and fuel lines. To complete the sixties Cooper image, the red and black cabin sports some new bucket seats with three-point harnesses and a 'Momo' wheel.

This super Cooper evocation appears to have covered just over 1,200 miles since its build and has a current MOT.

1963 Mini Cooper S Evocation
Lot: 441
Estimate (£): 20,000 - 24,000

Offered for sale is a 1.071L 1963 Morris Mini Cooper S Evocation manual. Coming with a partial history file, this lot's condition scores an impressive 104 / 135.

Classic Car Auctions says:
Fresh from a 3 year, full ground up, nut and bold restoration, this Morris Mini Cooper S evocation project was instigated by a retired aircraft engineer who obtained a 998cc Cooper and a rusty 1071S with the intention of combining the best bits from both cars. When he passed away, the dismantled parts where obtained by another Mini enthusiast, though the registration documents for the Cooper S could not be found. Starting with a restored shell, the car has been meticulously pieced together, with every effort made to replicate a genuine Mini Cooper 1071S.

1977 Leyland Mini Van
Lot: 460
Estimate (£): 10,000 - 12,000

Offered for sale is a .998L 1977 leyland mini van manual that has been with the current owner for the last 2 years. Coming with a partial history file, this lot's condition scores an impressive 107 / 135.

Classic Car Auctions says:
A superb 'Nut and Bolt' restoration...
This 1977 Leyland Mini Van was supplied to new to Southern Electricity to be used in their "Shower Electric" campaign and remained with them until 1985 when it was sold.

The second owner stored it away until early in 2015 when it again saw the light of day and was completely stripped in readiness for a total rebuild wherever possible using new old stock parts, such as bumpers, hubcaps, exhaust, even tyres, but retaining items such as the original rubber mats.

Mechanically the van was stripped and both the gearbox and the engine were rebuilt to the original factory specification. The essence of this restoration was to get as close as possible to the way this van would have looked when it was first put into service by Southern Electric.
Both 'Corgi' and 'Vanguard' model companies were commissioned to make an exact copy of RGM 912R and these are now on the market.

This piece of Mini Van history could now be yours.

1962 Austin Mini Pick Up
Lot: 521
Estimate (£): 6,000 - 8,000

Offered for sale is a 1.0L 1962 Austin Mini Pick Up manual that has been with the current owner for the last 2 years. Coming with a partial history file, this lot's condition scores 81 / 135.

Classic Car Auctions says:
Tremendous fun and a great investment...  Mini Pickups are getting scarce now and early ones like this are very rare. Dating from 1962, it has been fully restored and is well finished in a lovely, period correct, Tweed Grey. The restoration has been sympathetic but the decision was taken to change one or two aspects of the car to make it less utilitarian. The 848cc engine has been replaced with a 998cc from a later car and the interior has also been modernised with a new instrument binnacle, switch panel, seats, steering wheel and seat belts, all from later iterations of the Mini. In addition, it has been fitted with Hi-Lo adjustable suspension, Cooper 'S' discs and 10" Minilites. Not one for the purist, perhaps, but so much more fun.

Freshly MOT'd, the car comes with a pile of receipts, dozens of photographs, an original Owner's Manual and a great number plate -  NAG 70A.

1989 Mini Cooper S Evocation
Lot: 539
Estimate (£): 10,000 - 15,000

Offered for sale is a 0.998L 1989 Rover Mini Cooper S Evocation manual that has been with the current owner for the last 5 years. Coming with a partial history file, this lot's condition scores 86 / 135.

Classic Car Auctions says:
This special little Mini is registered in the UK as a Rover Mini Cooper (manufactured / first registered 01/08/1989), having come from Japan. At some stage the car was rebuilt as an Austin Cooper S recreation/evocation with period MK1 rear lights, a dummy rear twin tank, sliding door windows and 60's style race seats fitted. The interior is currently being improved, with a new Cooper steering wheel, proper new in-period binnacles, and other finishing touches. It has a Cooper 'S' type exhaust which gives it the appropriate sound and having just returned from the tuners is very quick, pulling strongly in all its gears. Having spent some time in a warmer climate the car appears to be in very good condition.
