MINI is recalling over 7,800 MINI Clubmans, built 2016-17, to fix a side airbag that can fail to deploy properly, according to CarComplaints.com
The problem was brought to the German company's attention whilst undergoing routine testing, stating the side curtain airbag was not working as intended near the car's A-pillar.
It is thought the problem could be the way the fabric is perforated and they may not have been manufactured to work with another type of airbag.
Although there have been no accidents or complaints received relating to the issue, the company is making a recall as a precaution.
The recall is due to begin on September 12, contact your local dealership for corrections to the airbag covers.
Although the recall was announced in the USA, it is unclear if the recall also involves UK based cars, but we would recommend contacting your dealer anyway, as these cars will still be under warranty.
