Celeb Big Brother star in MINI inferno drama

Celebrity Big Brother star, Antonia Knowles, had a lucky escape a few days ago after her MINI Cooper burst into flames whilst she was driving.

The model and TV personality noticed a loud clunking sound and called a garage for them to look at it. But whilst driving there, smoke and flames began to appear from underneath the bonnet and she jumped out before the fire engulfed the car.

She said "The whole car literally burst into flames. At first it was flames coming out of the top bit but within seconds the whole car was in flames.

The flames grew and grew and all of the glass smashed out of the windows. It was terrifying. I could feel the heat all over me. I was covered in ash and I stank of smoke.

Two firecrews arrived at the scene to put the fire out and diagnosed the cause as a probable electrical fault. The fire was so intense the road was closed for a few days after it melted the tarmac.

Miss Knowles says MINI offered her £4000 compensation on the car that she bought for £10,000 in 2011. She has now bought a different make of car after losing her faith in MINIs.

MINI said only one incident of a MINI catching fire had been recorded in the UK and that "In light of no forensic evidence from Ms Knowles’s insurance company or further information about the events leading up to this incident, it is not possible for MINI UK to conduct a technical investigation."
