Now in its fourth year, the Lancashire Mini Register's Mega Mini Meet was once again held in the luxurious grounds of Lytham Hall, an 18th Century country house, a few miles from Blackpool.
As you can see the weather was lovely and sunny, and the location was beautiful. The Mega Mini Meet is one of those shows I have been meaning to attend for a few years and finally I got my backside in to gear to see what I'd been missing.
Historically this show has been viewed as a New MINI show, but in recent years more and more classic Minis have been turning out and this year there were even more!
The LMR has pretty much got this show down to a tee now, and last year's numbers of 350 cars looks to have been well and truly beaten this time around - perhaps helped by the good weather and increasing reputation of the show.
Yes there were lots of great Minis to look at - some travelling from far and wide, but that wasn't all. Traders have also been increasing their interest in the show and there were some intriguing products available and a fair few customisation options available.
Back in the days of old, some Minis parked in a field with other like-minded owners was the kind of day enthusiasts enjoyed on a Sunday, and it felt like the show harked back to simple pleasures of talking to other Mini owners rather than the many distractions found at other shows nowadays.
But that's not to say there wasn't much on, as the club had thought outside of the box and this year there was a display with a replica Spitfire on show, as well as live entertainment from the stage, and the choice to enjoy the grounds of the Grade I listed country house.
There were some gems of Minis on show, with even a JCW MINI Championship 50 hidden away around the back whilst the wide-arched, big spoilered and massive cambered Minis were upfront in the limelight.
Mixing it up, it felt like a concoction of new and old, with the air of chilled out Mini weekend, but with some extra funky cars on display. With Lytham situated right on the coastline too, I'd be tempted to make a weekend of it next time and bring a picnic to the show to relax with... chill out and enjoy the sun, sea and stunning Minis.
