UNIQUE OFFER: Issigonis' National I.D. card

love:mini reader Ben, has contacted us after putting up a unique piece of memorabilia for the truly die-hard Mini fan.

Technically it's not Mini related, but so special is this item that we thought you might be interested anyway.

So, we all know Alec Issigonis created the Mini, and that he has long since passed on this Earth, but there are still traces of his presence (aside from the Mini itself) and one rather fascinating item that has been discovered is his wartime National Registration Card.

A starting bid of £350 might seem steep, but after seeing some of the prices that some Mini items are fetching nowadays, we're sure there must be a few obsessed Mini fanatics who have deep enough pockets not to miss half a bag of sand (grand).

Here's what the Ben says about the item:

"An opportunity for the serious BMC, Morris Minor and Mini collector to buy an ultimate piece of memorabilia. This is Sir Alec's actual war time registration card, issued June 6th 1942. I bought it along with a number of of his personal library books many years back. I have decided the time has now come to pass it on.

The condition is ok although the two halves are only just still attached. It has blue tack like substance to the back where it must have 'tacked' to a wall for displaying (I don't know when and where). It does need very careful handling and I would recommend using some document repair tape to stop the two halves from parting.

There isn't much more to add. There are a number of official stamps which you can see in the pictures. I've put the Wikipedia entry for Sir Alec's history below but I'm sure anyone reading this is familiar.

Any questions please ask and best of luck bidding!"
