Synonymous with the Mini badge, Wood & Pickett have been converting, tuning and supplying parts for Minis since the 1960s. Proprietors and founders, Bill Wood and Les Pickett mastered their craft at Hooper & Co in London before joining forces and setting up their own company in 1947. Spotting a gap in the market, they were determined to offer Mini conversions better than that of leading rival Radford and the 'Margrave' Mini was their first offering, featuring a distinctive leather & walnut fascia panel, leather or Dralon seating and front and rear nudge bars, to which customers were invited to add from a long list of individually-priced options.  Bill and Les retired in the early 1980s but the business still remains strong under the stewardship of Mike Standring and currently operates from its home in Leatherhead, Surrey. from where it is still able to supply a full list of parts for the early W&P Minis.

Austin Se7en De Luxe, Farina Grey, A-A2S7/108: The Fourth Oldest Surviving Mini
Available for Pre-Order at £24.99. Estimated Arrival 09/10/2016

Gladys Hobro bought XLL 27 new in 1959 and kept it until June 1986 but only used it when she and her family returned home to Bognor Regis from Khartoum, Sudan, where they were based. Second owner, Chichester-based David Gallimore, never started his intended restoration and offered the 30,041 mile car for sale in 2011. It was purchased, in the original but very rusty state modelled here, by three Mini enthusiasts from Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, Richard Bremner, Bryan Smart and Robert Lancaster-Gaye. In 2012, having proved the car's production history, significance and originality, they consigned it, unrestored, to Bonham's auctioneers. They'd initially feared losing their £10,000 investment so were amazed when it sold for £40,250.

Researched with the help of the BMIHT Gaydon.
