FROM AM900 CML: Mohawk College students have proven that there’s more to popsicles than just being a cool treat. Engineering student Jude Morgan breathed a sigh of relief Friday
afternoon after a tiny bridge he made out of popsicle sticks managed to
hold the weight of a 27-hundred pound car.
The Budd’s BMW Mini Cooper was suspended from the bridge, which sat on top of a structure built by Hamilton’s Walter’s Group.
As the shiny new blue car was lowered, Morgan says he was confident the bridge would hold up, yet a little anxious as well.
It is the first known recording of a popsicle stick bridge holding a
car’s weight and comes a few days before Mohawk College’s annual
popsicle stick bridge building competition.
